The PEAKS School Program
The PEAKS School Program offers unique opportunities to both special education and typically developing classrooms.
Special Education Program:
PEAKS Therapeutic Riding Program offers an equine based school partnership program in which special needs classrooms are invited out to the barn to participate in a 2 part program. Part one of the program is a 45 min.
therapeutic riding lesson focusing on the riders physical and cognitive goals.
The second part of the program consist of a 45 minute class room portion in which
the riders are instructed in an equine based curriculum which implements the
horse as a motivational tool to teach academics and work towards the goals for the student’s IEPs. The result is students who are excited about learning while developing self confidence and learning life skills. Most programs last for 6 weeks, with the classrooms spending about 2 hours at the PEAKS each week. The staff is always willing to custom design a program to fit the needs of your class.
Field Trips:
Typically developing classrooms are invited to spend a day out at the PEAKS center at beautiful Pine Ceek Camp. Our staff will develop a custom field trip for each school group which will focus on character building, and can include horse back riding, team building activities, crafts, lunch, and more!
